LIAM 484 – Set It Down

It’s interesting what we carry. Most of us experienced something painful in the past that we keep thinking about. Within the story about it, we carry the weight of pain, anger, sorry, shame, etc. The event happened in the past, yet we still carry it. It weighs us down and keeps us from living a life of joy and peace. Set it down, whatever the story is. You don’t need it anymore! Listen as I explain:

It might sound weird but I like to listen more now to other people’s stories than to tell mine.

What changed me was practicing Stephen Covey’s fourth habit: seek first to understand, then to be understood.

As I listened more instead of talking, I felt I was understanding people on a deeper level.

And I got hooked on that.

So now most of my input in conversations is asking questions.

P.S. I didn’t know your story until now, Bruce. It sounds very inspirational. I will check your interview “From Victim to Victor and Worrying No More.”

I am so sorry about the loss of your daughter.
