Many business coaches and “motivational” speakers are telling you “go out out and make mistakes,” and “don’t be afraid to fail.” This teaching isn’t helpful because it focuses on the mistakes and failure, rather than on success, which is what you want. We get more of what we focus on. The teaching, if it must use a negative modifier, should be “don’t be afraid to succeed!” Listen as I explain:
